Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver patient care across the nursing process in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The role focuses on assessment, care planning, medication administration, and ensuring safety and quality at night shift.

You will participate in patient teaching, coordinate care across departments, and support family members while upholding Mercy Health's values of compassion and integrity.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact
• 1 year RN experience required; new grads considered
• BLS or ACLS preferred (must obtain if hired; ACLS within 6 months)
• CCRN, PCCN, NIH Stroke Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment and plans of care
• Administers medications safely per policies
• Acts as patient safety advocate and participates in quality improvement
• Serves as patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual, palliative, and ethics teams
• Coordinates care across hospital departments and with family members
• Manages patients with multi-system organ failure or multisystem trauma
• Utilizes nursing process to guide patient care delivery and clinical judgment
• Communicates effectively with patients and families; respects cultural differences
• Maintains core Mercy Health Nursing Professional Practice Model principles
• Adapts to changing patient conditions and supports care coordination across units
