Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts responsible for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs. They are responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care and report directly to a nurse manager or supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes.

Licenses and Credentials

Registered Nurse (RN - State License) - Required.

Experience

Prior experience not required unless specified for certain specialty areas. Experience in stepdown medicine preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
  • Observational skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective skills in applying hospital standards, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
Additional Job Details
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts. Newly licensed nurses require a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Stepdown medicine experience preferred.
  • Membership in professional organizations is recommended; certification in a specialty is encouraged.
  • Able to work weekend rotation per the MNA contract.
