Under the direction of the Principal and/or School Administration, this position will teach courses in our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum. The position will provide instruction in courses such as Computer Science Principles (CSP), Digital Electronics (DE), Engineering Design and Development (EDD), Gateway to Technology (GTT). Project Lead the Way training will be provided as necessary.

Essential Functions:

• Develops and maintains a classroom environment which adheres to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.
• Provides instructional program(s) based on the California Content Standards.
• Meets and instructs those classes and pupils assigned in the location and at the time designated.
• Assists pupils and administrators to set, establish, and maintain acceptable school and classroom behavior and standards.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills; takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect pupils, equipment, materials, and school.
• Plan and implement relevant lessons that promote student proficiency in this subject area as defined by California Content Standards and in keeping with the vision and mission of The Palmdale Aerospace Academy (TPAA).
• Use relevant data to calibrate rigor in class lessons and differentiate instruction.
• Actively promote the college and career readiness of all students.
• Develop relevant college and career preparatory activities collaboratively with the counseling department and relevant teacher teams.
• Maintain a high degree of dedication to student success and enthusiasm for teaching.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuous improvement in student learning.
• Communicate the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students to parents to ensure student success.
• Commit to ongoing improvement of instruction and development as a professional educator.
• Work within the scope of a professional learning community: (1) to articulate an understanding of standards based curriculum and a project based learning. (2) to improve instructional programs as necessary.
• Provides professional input by attending and participating in meetings.
• Performs other job related duties as required to assure the safety and security of students.
