Job summary

Wright State University seeks a dedicated school counselor for the Dayton Regional STEM School, serving grades K–5. This 100% time position is an initial one-year contract contingent upon funding, based in Dayton, OH.

The counselor will provide direct student counseling, classroom guidance, and collaborate with teachers and families to support student success. The role emphasizes individual and group counseling, testing coordination, and program development, with ongoing professional growth

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in school counseling by Aug 1, 2026.
  • Ohio Licensed School Counselor or eligible for alternative license by Aug 1, 2026.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Serve as consultant to teachers and staff; plan and lead small group counseling.
  • Support program development activities and participate in testing coordination.
  • Assist administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing.
  • Collaborate with other counselors and administration to plan and evaluate the K–12 counseling program.

Position Summary

The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as school counselor for the K-5 elementary school.

Responsibilities
  • Academic – 40%: Conduct individual meetings with students and parents; Prepare and deliver classroom lessons based on determined needs; Participate in team meetings with teachers.
  • Individual and Small Group Counseling – 30%: Conduct individual counseling with students/parents; Serve as consultant to teachers and other staff members; Plan and lead small group counseling sessions.
  • Administrative Support and Program Development – 15%: Support and participate in program‑development activities (specific tasks not listed).
  • Testing and Analysis – 10%: Support the administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing.
  • Professional/Program Development – 5%: Pursue continuous growth through attendance at regional conferences; read professional journals; take post‑graduate courses; Collaborate with middle and high school counselors and administration to plan and evaluate the school counseling program, grades K‑12.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree completed by August 1, 2026.
  • Licensed School Counselor in Ohio or able to obtain an alternative license by August 1, 2026.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years experience as an elementary school counselor.

Working Conditions
