Job summary

Vernon Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Robotics Team Advisor for Rockville High School to mentor students in competitive STEM, lead practices, and oversee robot design and programming. This is a part-time, temporary role for the full school year with emphasis on safety, collaboration, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Strong background, interest, or experience in STEM, engineering, manufacturing, or computer programming (Connecticut teaching certification preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high school students in a hands-on, project-based setting.
  • Flexibility to attend after-school practices and scheduled weekend competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct after-school team meetings, build sessions, and weekend competition events.
  • Guide students through the engineering design process, mechanical assembly, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle team administrative duties, including event registration, travel logistics, equipment inventory, and team communications.
  • Promote teamwork, problem-solving, gracious professionalism, and safety standard adherence.
