Job summary

Vernon Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Robotics Team Advisor for Rockville High School to mentor students in competitive STEM. You will lead practices, supervise robot design and programming, and oversee student participation in regional competitions, while fostering a safe, collaborative learning environment.

This is a part-time, temporary position for the full school year. The role begins ASAP, with stipend-based pay and no benefits.

Qualifications

  • Strong background, interest, or experience in STEM, engineering, manufacturing, or computer programming (Connecticut teaching certification preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high school students in a hands-on, project-based setting.
  • Flexibility to attend after-school practices and scheduled weekend competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct after-school team meetings, build sessions, and weekend competition events.
  • Guide students through the engineering design process, mechanical assembly, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle team administrative duties, including event registration, travel logistics, equipment inventory, and team communications.
  • Promote teamwork, problem-solving, gracious professionalism, and safety standard adherence.
