Job summary

OSU Oregon State University is seeking STEM Leader Interns for the STEM Leader Education Program. Local high school students in Wasco and Hood River Counties will assist with STEM and Maker activities as part of OSU Extension Wasco County 4-H, supporting youth in after-school clubs supervised by school staff.

Leaders will work 2–4 hours weekly, with 6–10 hours of paid training during the school year, developing social-emotional skills and career readiness in communication, teamwork, leadership,

Qualifications

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and meet academic standing requirements.
• Must meet employment eligibility and be able to transport to the host school.
• Preferred experience working with youth and with STEM projects.

Responsibilities

• Attend required trainings (6–10 hours per year) to learn how to support middle school and elementary youth in STEM projects.
• Work 1–2 days per week in assigned after‑school programs for 2–4 hours.
• Assist youth in STEM projects as directed by after‑school staff and model tasks.
• Support youth by explaining tasks, aiding with technology, and fostering teamwork and self‑regulation.
