Job summary

The University of California, Berkeley's Innovative Genomics Institute seeks a Staff Research Associate 2 to support a 2-year project. You will culture pluripotent stem cells, perform genomic DNA isolation, and genotype cells by PCR and sequencing, contributing to a large-scale genome engineering workflow.

Under the PI's supervision, you will plan and execute experiments, analyze results, maintain meticulous lab notebooks, uphold safety standards, and manage supplies.

Qualifications

• Experience with sterile tissue culture, PCR, basic lab maintenance; strong organization and meticulous record-keeping.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques, plasmid handling and molecular cloning.
• Experience with human pluripotent stem cell culturing, genome engineering with CRISPR, and library prep and data analysis of NGS.
• Knowledge of lab safety procedures, ability to design and conduct experiments, and analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Culture and maintain pluripotent stem cell cultures (hPSCs) and perform genotyping by PCR/sequencing.
• Assist with research projects; optimize tissue culture and molecular biology protocols under PI guidance.
• Plan and design experiments, conduct them, analyze results, and troubleshoot PCR/genotyping.
• Maintain and characterize human stem cell cultures, extract DNA, and prepare samples for sequencing.
• Provide protocol renewals, safety inspections, and general lab support.
