Job summary

Brick City Metals in Ocala, FL is seeking a skilled Welder to join our fabrication team. You will weld steel and aluminum components for vertical access systems and structural assemblies used in utilities, power, and municipal infrastructure.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up welding equipment, performing MIG/TIG/Stick welds, inspecting welds, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment while meeting quality standards and production targets.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• MIG welding of carbon steel; TIG experience a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and material specifications.
• Knowledge of AWS welding standards and general quality requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical positions.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, technical drawings, and work orders to plan and execute welds to specification.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on carbon steel materials in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
• Fabricate and assemble structural components including ladders, platforms, safety cages, handrails, and related vertical access system parts.
• Set up and operate welding equipment, positioners, and fixtures; adjust settings for material type, thickness, and weld process.
• Inspect completed welds for quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.2 standards and customer specifications.
• Perform grinding, cutting, gouging, and other metal preparation tasks prior to and following welding operations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow all safety protocols including PPE requirements, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and hot work practices.
• Complete required production documentation, weld logs, and quality records accurately and on time.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status, quality concerns, and material needs.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of quality and workplace safety.
