Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Steel Quality Inspector. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all fabricated steel products meet internal standards and project specifications prior to delivery and installation.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of welded and fabricated steel components
- Verify conformance to drawings, specifications, codes, and standards (AISC, AWS D1.1, etc.)
- Identify and document non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Collaborate with welders, fitters, and shop supervisors to ensure continuous quality improvement
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, records, and documentation
- Support internal audits and assist in maintaining quality control systems
- Work closely with project management and QA/QC team to support delivery of compliant steel packages
- Willingness to pursue Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification within a designated timeframe (company-supported)
Requirements
- 2+ years of structural steel/misc. metals inspection experience or 5+ years of hands-on welding/fabrication experience in a structural steel environment
- Strong understanding of AWS D1.1, AISC standards, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
- High attention to detail and a proactive mindset toward quality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- CWI certification is not required but must be willing to obtain (company will support training/certification process)
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $70,000–$85,000 (commensurate with experience)
