Job summary

GPAC has partnered with a reputable steel fabrication and erection company to recruit a Steel Project Manager in Ohio. You will oversee structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract award to final installation, coordinating between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams and field crews.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in steel fabrication/erection, strong ability to read drawings, and proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Fabtrol.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing projects in steel fabrication/erection.
• Proficient in reading architectural and structural drawings.
• Proficient with Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and FabTrol (or similar).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of structural and miscellaneous steel projects (stairs, railings, catwalks, platforms, etc.).
• Serve as primary contact between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams and field crews.
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, material procurement and subcontractor coordination.
• Review project drawings and specs to ensure scope alignment.
• Track progress, resolve issues and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Coordinate with estimating and detailing teams for change orders and revisions.
• Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.

About The Opportunity

GPAC has partnered with a reputable and fast-growing steel fabrication and erection company that delivers high-quality structural and miscellaneous metal projects across commercial and industrial markets. Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Steel Project Manager to oversee projects from contract award through final installation.

This is a direct-hire position with a stable and well-respected company offering long-term career potential and a strong pipeline of upcoming work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of structural and miscellaneous steel projects, including stairs, railings, catwalks, platforms, etc.


• Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams, and field crews.


• Oversee project timelines, budgets, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination.


• Review project drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with scope and deliverables.


• Track progress, resolve issues, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

• Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).


• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).


• Previous hands-on experience in steel fabrication or erection is highly valued.


• Familiarity with field operations, fabrication workflows, and change order processes.
