Job summary

Whirlwind Steel is seeking a Production Painter to apply primer and finish coatings to structural steel components in our Houston paint department. Responsibilities include surface prep, spray-painting, and ensuring quality finishes.

Required is a high school diploma or GED and the ability to operate spray-painting equipment, overhead cranes, and forklifts. Safety adherence and teamwork are essential in this fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with industrial painting or spray-painting equipment preferred.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts required.
• Ability to pass a pulmonary fit test.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal surfaces by removing dirt, grease, rust, and other contaminants.
• Mix and prepare primers and paint according to specifications.
• Set up and adjust spray guns, hoses, and equipment.
• Apply primer and finish coats to structural steel components using spray-painting equipment.
• Use grinders, wire brushes, and other tools for surface preparation as needed.
• Operate overhead cranes to position materials for painting.
• Maintain a clean and organized paint booth and work area.
• Follow company safety procedures and quality standards.
