Job summary

Orion Steel Group, L.L.C. is seeking a hands-on Shipping/Yard Associate in Oregon to join our manufacturing team. You will perform routine equipment inspections, organize floor layout, assist crane operators, and prepare railcars and trailers for loading of steel plate.

Qualifications

Must work safely in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
Strong planning and organizational skills to meet department schedules and deadlines.
Competent math skills, including basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

Perform routine equipment inspections according to department guidelines.
Implement daily floor organization plans based on schedules.
Assist crane operators in transporting steel plate from the mill to floor laydowns.
Direct activities of crane operators in storage and shipment of plate.
Set up railcars and trailers for loading of steel plate shipments.
Maintain accurate, legible records and keep a clean, safe work environment.
Cross-train in other shipping department positions.
Support lean initiatives for continuous improvement.
