Job summary

Quality Structures LLC in Richmond, Kansas is seeking a Steel Plant Operator to support our steel production workflows on-site. You will operate roll formers, presses, forklifts, and related equipment, maintain inventory, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

This role requires reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work in varying shifts; forklift certification is preferred within 90 days, and on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Steel Plant and roll forming experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience with metal building components preferred.
  • QSI provides on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular attendance and report to work on time.
  • Provide excellent customer service and reflect our company’s core values at all times.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Operate machinery including roll formers, Press Brake, and forklifts.
  • Operate panel and trim roll forming lines.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair shop equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts of trim materials.
  • Package, label, and prepare steel products for shipment according to production specs.
  • Ensure product quality and adherence to plant production standards.
  • Work in multiple areas of the plant and adapt to changing production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with QSI policies and procedures.

Description:

Job Summary

Steel Plant Laborers support operations across all areas of the steel plant, including material handling, equipment operation, and product packaging. Responsibilities include executing work orders, producing and labeling finished materials, and maintaining inventory. This position requires adherence to all safety procedures and must be performed in person on-site.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • Steel Plant and roll forming experience preferred
  • General knowledge of building materials and building processes
  • Forklift certification with 90 days of employment required provided by employer. Previous Experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with metal building component manufacturing is preferred
  • QSI provides on-the-job training

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to perform tasks accurately, effectively, and on time
  • Must be able to multitask and be detail-oriented
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to meet requirements even in heavy workload or dynamic environments and seasonal peaks
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in the winter and summer months
  • Must be able to work long hours as needed

Weight & Lift Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to regularly and repeatedly lift various steel products in a production line.
  • Lifting anything >80lbs requires additional personnel and utilizing a dolly or forklift if possible.

Benefits Offered

  • Paid vacation: 84.5 hours annually, accruing each pay period after two full weeks of employment
  • Paid sick leave: 16 hours annually, prorated for new employees
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance available the first of the month following 60 days of service
  • Company-paid life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance
  • 401(k) eligibility after six months, with a company match of up to 3%

Salary Information
