Job summary

Minerals Technologies is seeking a Steel Mill Laborer in Middletown, OH. The role involves applying refractory materials using specialized equipment to line and repair furnaces, ladles, and other high temperature equipment within a steel mill environment.

The candidate will mix materials, maintain equipment and tools, and must be mechanically inclined to operate under extreme temperatures. This is a safety-sensitive position with random drug testing requirements, and shifts may include overtime

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; must be able to speak and read English.
• Steel-making or related experience preferred but not required.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, adaptability, and safety awareness are required.

Responsibilities

• Apply refractory material to line and repair furnaces, ladles, and other high-temperature equipment in a steel mill.
• Follow standard operating procedures for equipment and product applications.
• Operate equipment and perform basic maintenance to keep tools in good condition.
• Maintain equipment with a clean appearance and ensure it is in working order.
• Focus on customer satisfaction and maintain a positive profile with the customer.
• Participate in life of TPM/5S and continuous improvement activities where applicable.
