Job summary

TMS International is seeking a Burner/Torch Cutter for our New Castle, PA facility. This full-time, 2nd shift position involves operating oxy-acetylene torches and plasma cutters to cut and shape steel, inspect materials, and maintain equipment.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of relevant experience, can read blueprints, and adhere to strict safety protocols in a high-noise, high-temperature environment.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience as Burner/Lancer or similar in manufacturing/steel mill.
• Proficient with oxy-acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and high-pressure air lances.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
• Strong emphasis on safety procedures in a high-risk environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate oxy-acetylene torches and plasma cutters to cut and shape steel as required.
• Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality and readiness for processing.
• Use high-pressure air lances to clean slag and debris from steel surfaces.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE in a high-risk environment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot cutting tools and equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors and other departments to meet production goals.
• Keep accurate records of materials used, equipment maintenance and work completed.
