Walkersville, MD | Day Shift | Full-Time | $19$27/hr (based on experience)

What you will do:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols to guide fabrication work
  • Lay out, measure, and fabricate steel components according to exact specifications
  • Perform MIG welding as the primary method; use TIG or Stick welding as needed for specific tasks
  • Operate saws, shears, ironworkers, brakes, and layout equipment
  • Tack and prep materials for welding and finishing
  • Inspect welds and finished components to ensure they meet quality standards and durability requirements
  • Mark up shop drawings, document revisions, and report design discrepancies or fabrication issues
  • Identify potential hazards and apply appropriate protections to materials and the work area before welding or grinding
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine checks and maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with shop supervisors and team members to ensure a safe, efficient workflow

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in steel or metal fabrication
  • Stand and walk for long periods (up to 8 hours/day)
  • Regular bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Use of hands and arms for welding, tool use, and equipment operation
  • Visual acuity to read measurements, drawings, and perform precision work
  • Proficient in MIG welding
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Perform accurate math calculations (e.g., measurement conversions)
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of steel fabrication experience (training available for the right candidate)
  • Experience with TIG and Stick Welding
  • Familiarity with stainless steel and aluminum fabrication
  • AWS D1.1 , AWS D1.2 and D1.3 welding certification

Essential Equipment Used:

  • MIG welders (and other necessary welding machines)
  • Fabrication hand tools (grinders, squares, levels, etc.)
  • Heavy machinery (ironworker, shear, press brake, saws, drill press)
  • Plasma and oxyacetylene cutting tools
  • Forklifts and overhead cranes (training provided for uncertified operators)
  • PPE including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection
Working Conditions
  • Indoor shop environment with fabrication work in progress throughout the day
  • Exposure to noise, paint fumes, sparks, and moving equipment
  • MondayFriday, 6:00 AM 2:30 PM

  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must pass a drug screening
