Red Dot Buildings in Athens, Texas, is seeking a dependable Shop Laborer to support structural steel production at our facility. This hands-on role may involve operating plate-pulling and plate-processing equipment or a pull-through welder to assemble and weld steel web and flange components.

Responsibilities include reading shop drawings, measuring and staging steel, and maintaining a safe, organized work area while supporting fabrication operations and meeting production needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, machine operation, welding or structural steel fabrication preferred.
• At least one year of MIG welding experience preferred for pull-through welding assignments.
• Ability to read or learn to read shop drawings and production prints.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure.

Responsabilités

• Read and follow shop drawings, production instructions and material specifications
• Verify correct web, flange or plate material for each assignment
• Measure, position and stage structural steel components
• Operate plate-pulling, plate-processing, pull-through welding or other fabrication equipment
• Set up and monitor assigned machinery during production
• Use tape measures and other tools to verify material dimensions
• Operate overhead cranes and lifting devices to safely load and move steel
• Maintain material identification and traceability
• Inspect components for measurements, alignment and welds
• Report malfunctions and quality concerns to lead or supervisor
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic operator care
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Support other fabrication equipment or production areas as needed
