Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a STEAM & SYE Site Coordinator to implement program plans and supervise activities for the 21st CCLC grant-supported STEAM and SYE programs in Harrisburg. You will assist the Site Director, coordinate instructors and volunteers, and ensure a safe learning environment for youth and families.

Responsibilities include tracking attendance, reporting program results, and supporting curriculum delivery across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Education or related field with 3+ years of urban youth experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Confidentiality in all areas, mandatory.
  • Experience in lesson plan writing and development.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, completion of PA Act 153 training.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset.
  • Meets PA Act 153 clearances and FBI/State Police background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Implement program plans for the STEAM 21st CCLC program and support the Site Director.
  • Coordinate and supervise student activities; track attendance and follow up on absences.
  • Provide detailed program reports and human-interest stories to supervisor.
  • Facilitate curriculum for assigned groups and substitute in classrooms as needed.
  • Support the SYE program operations and parent engagement activities.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and orderly classrooms and coordinate instructors and volunteers.

Position: STEAM & SYE Site Coordinator

Department: Youth and Family Education

Availability of Position: 6/15/26-7/31/26 (STEAM); 6/8/26-8/7/26 (SYE)

Schedule: Full Time

Reporting Relationship: Directly: STEAM Scholars Site Director Indirectly: Programs and Services Chief Administrator

Salary and Grade: $21/hr, 76 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

STEAM Position Overview: This position will implement program plans, coordinate, and maintain the 21stst CCLC grant-funded program that will serve PA STEAM Academy students and families. The SSSC will provide direct support to the Site Director in all operational aspects of the 21st CCLC program and parent and family engagement programs. The SSSC will track daily attendance, provide follow up regarding enrolled students and parents regarding program absences and any behaviors that need follow up.The SSSC supervises all student activities. Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for the students, and clean and orderly classrooms. Coordinates and ensure proper implementation of program plans, instructors, tutors, volunteers, and guest speakers. Reviews student records via file, database and Procare for accuracy. Provide detailed reports to the supervisor detailing program results and human-interest stories. Facilitation of curriculum to assigned groups as well as sub in classrooms when other staff are out. Other duties as assigned.

SYE Position Overview: This position will implement program plans, coordinate, and maintain the SYE program that will serve Harrisburg area students and families. The Site Coordinator will provide direct support to the YFE Administrator in all operational aspects of the SYE program and parent and family engagement programs. The Site Coordinator will track daily attendance, provide follow up regarding enrolled students and parents regarding program absences and any behaviors that need follow up. The Site Coordinator supervises all student activities. Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for the students, and clean and orderly classrooms. Coordinates and ensures proper implementation of program plans, instructors, tutors and volunteer and guest speakers. Reviews student records via file, database and Procare for accuracy. Provides detailed reports to the supervisor detailing program results and human-interest stories. Facilitation of curriculum to assigned groups as well as sub in classrooms when other staff are out. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Degree in the field of Education or related field and 3+ years of experience working with urban, diverse youth and their families.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Confidentiality in all areas, mandatory
  • Prior experience in lesson plan writing and development.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations
  • Possess analytical skills and strategic mindset
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of community people, students, and vendors of services
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
