Overview

Position: STEAM Scholars (S2) Lead Facilitators (LF) STEAM Scholars PA

STEAM Academy Charter School

Department: Youth and Family Education/21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC)

Availability of Position: June 16, 2025

Schedule: Part-time plus, Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-3:00pm, June 16 – July 24, 2025

Reporting Relationship: Directly: STEAM Scholars Site Director
Indirectly: Youth and Family Education Administrator

Salary: $18.50/hr, Grade 74 NE

Responsibilities

Position Overview: The S2 LF primary responsibilities include facilitating The Salvation Army’s S2 programming (After School, Summer Program, Family/Parent Engagement, etc.) at the PA STEAM Academy Charter School. They will also track and collect data as outlined by the S2 Site Coordinator. The S2 LF is responsible for creating a nurturing and educational environment, demonstrating proficiency in the curriculum, and effectively implementing lesson plans. They will use ARC, K-5 Math Teaching Resources, Great Minds, Engage NY Mathematics, and Eureka Mathematics curricula. During enrichment activities, the S2 LF will lead instruction in areas such as Nutrition, Character Education, Art, Music, CATCH, Kodable, etc., engaging participants in self-expression and skill development. They must be able to instruct youth in grades K-3 and plan age-appropriate lessons. All LFs are required to attend trainings, learn new curricula, and support program partners. They will also provide feedback from participants and community partners and assist with community outreach. This is a part-time position with flexible hours to meet program needs during summer and after school sessions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-year associate degree in a related field preferred or at least 2 years of related experience
  • Confidentiality is mandatory
  • Flexible working hours to meet program needs
  • Excellent organizational skills, patience, creativity, and a love for urban youth and families
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Cultural competency and experience working with multi-cultural and inner-city youth
  • Adaptability to organizational and community needs
  • Detail-oriented, motivated self-starter capable of independent work
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Completion of child abuse recognition and reporting training as per PA Act 153
  • Necessary child protection clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain insurance clearances
  • Understanding and appreciation of The Salvation Army’s mission
