Base pay range: $15.93/hr - $19.91/hr

Job Description & Core Responsibilities

Department: Sunset Steakhouse

Reports To: Kitchen Supervisor/Executive Sous Chef

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: Grade 5

Starting Wage: $15.93 - $19.91

Closes on: May 29, 2025

Position Summary

The Line Cook will ensure the highest quality food is served at all times. Produces, cooks, and presents dishes according to Sunset Steakhouse recipes, and maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and utensils.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare quality food in safe and efficient manner, following proper food handling procedures.
  • Report emergencies, accidents, injuries, or safety hazards to management promptly.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary storage, preparation, and cooking practices; monitor kitchen and equipment sanitation.
  • Follow quality standards for ingredients and proper storage; utilize leftovers effectively to reduce waste.
  • Use appropriate seasonings for diverse cuisines; understand food allergens and substitutes.
  • Cook using various methods: poaching, braising, roasting, grilling, sautéing, frying, baking.
  • Prepare food from scratch in appropriate portions, ensuring presentation aligns with recipes and guest requests.
  • Use supplies and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude in interactions with guests, vendors, and colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • None required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma and at least 1 year of kitchen experience.
  • One or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Hospitality industry familiarity is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

The environment is fast-paced; good mental and physical health required.

  • Stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., work quickly in confined spaces.
  • Use hands and arms continuously, bend, reach, twist.
  • Tolerate scents, noises, and bright lights.
