Job summary

Hollywood Casino Charles Town is seeking a dedicated cook to join our kitchen team. You will adhere to HCCTR and Food and Beverage policies, measure and mix ingredients, bake, roast, broil, steam, and plate meals with care to ensure quality and consistency.

The role requires ability to read and interpret safety rules, pass the WV Food Handler certification, and qualify for WV Racing Commission licensing. You should be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• Must attend West Virginia Food Handler class and pass certification.
• The work environment may require lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to HCCTR and Food and Beverage Policies.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe for soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles.
• Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
• Add seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
• Observe and test foods by tasting, smelling, and piercing to ensure proper cooking.
• Carve meats, portion food on serving plates, add gravies and sauces, and garnish.
• Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits.
• Butchers chickens, fish, and shellfish.
• Cuts, trims, and bones meat prior to cooking.
• Bakes bread, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
• Ensures kitchen is clean and organized upon closing.
• Performs any task assigned by lead cook, sous chef, room chef, or Restaurant Manager.
