In 2001, UCSD, Rady Children’s Hospital, and Children’s Specialists of San Diego unified their pediatric care, research, education, and community programs, creating a comprehensive children’s health system. Over the past two decades, this partnership has fostered numerous joint programs, with many physicians and researchers collaborating across institutions. This affiliation has integrated UCSD’s Department of Pediatrics with San Diego’s only health system dedicated solely to children’s health. The partnership was further strengthened in 2009 with the creation of the Rady Children’s Specialist of San Diego, a Medical Foundation, which has established a reputation for leadership in research, technology, translational medicine, education, and clinical practice.
The Division of Environmental Science & Health focuses on four main areas: 1) clinical services for patients with birth defects and developmental disabilities; 2) public health outreach regarding prenatal and breastfeeding exposures; 3) educational programs for students across various disciplines; and 4) clinical research. The Center for Better Beginnings conducts research to understand, prevent, and treat birth defects and developmental disabilities. The division manages federal, state, and industry grants totaling over $40 million, supporting both national and international studies that involve complex infrastructure and collaboration.
The Research Data Analyst will perform standard to moderately complex statistical analyses for investigators within the Division. Responsibilities include preparing reports, consulting on study design, assisting students, contributing to manuscripts and grants, and improving data management procedures. The role also involves exploring new statistical methods, optimizing programming scripts, and training team members as needed. The analyst exercises judgment within established policies to select appropriate methods for data analysis.
