Office of the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield seeks a Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain heating, cooling, air handling equipment, and related systems in a state government building.

The position requires knowledge of boilers, pumps, gauges, and steam systems, with responsibilities including rounds, log keeping, emergency response, and preventive maintenance. Education includes high school and an apprenticeship; CFC certification is required.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school and the equivalent of the successful completion of an apprenticeship program necessary to qualify as journeyman stationary engineer.
• Four (4) years of experience in power plant operation and in firing high-pressure stationary boilers or experience equivalent to two years journeyman level work in HVAC.
• Requires CFC Certification under USFPA Section 608 rules.

Responsabilités

• Minds rounds of the building, reads gauges, and adjusts equipment; operates and maintains heating, cooling and air conditioning equipment and related systems.
• Monitors pressure gauges and starts/stops carriers for cooling and heating equipment and related pumps.
• Maintains pumps, compressors, fans and belts; performs maintenance such as changing filters and lubricating equipment.
• Keeps daily logs of gauge readings, water consumption and equipment operation; records emergencies and maintenance data.
• Takes emergency calls after hours and coordinates with tradesmen as needed.
