Job summary

Constellation Energy, based in Frederick, Maryland, seeks a Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain eight Cleaver-Brooks boilers and related plant equipment at a customer facility. You will ensure safe, compliant operations and serve as the primary onsite contact with strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years boiler operating experience or equivalent mix of education and hands-on work.
• Grade 1 Maryland Stationary Engineer license or ability to obtain.
• Must have Federal Security Clearance at HSPD-12 minimum or eligibility.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude; experience with switching up to 480V.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; MS Office skills expected.
• Strong analytical ability to define issues, research data and recommend solutions.
• Solid customer service knowledge and effective communication.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently.
• Valid driver's license; ability to lift up to 65 pounds.
• Comfort in confined spaces and varying heights; emergency response availability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe working conditions and enforce compliance in unsafe areas.
• Operate plants as Stationary Engineer following procedures.
• Serve as onsite representative and maintain client relationships.
• Monitor plant performance using control systems and tech.
• Remain on-call and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Work 24/7 including holidays, weekends, and odd hours when needed.
• Ensure contractual and regulatory obligations are met.
• Support safe, efficient supply to meet system demand.
• Maintain water quality following water management procedures.
• Operate and perform preventive/predictive maintenance on boilers.
• Create and track work orders; document maintenance results.
• Implement Lock-Out/Tag-Out and document procedures.
• Complete required safety and operating training.
• Apply knowledge of fire-tube boilers, combustion, and feedwater systems.

Must Have

Preferred

• Instrumentation and controls experience.


• 5 years of experience operating Cleaver Brooks Package Boilers.


• Experience in production facilities with a focus on boiler water chemistry and related systems.


• Familiarity with CB Hawk, Schneider Electric, or comparable operating systems.


• Prior experience with centrifugal chillers and HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

• We maintain and monitor safe working conditions, correcting, reporting, and helping enforce compliance in unsafe areas.


• We operate assigned plants as a Stationary Engineer in line with our published operating and safety procedures.


• We serve as the sole onsite representative at the customer facility and maintain strong customer relationships.


• We monitor plant performance using a range of control systems and technologies.


• We remain on-call and respond to emergency situations as required.


• We work within a 24/7 operating environment, including periodic holidays, weekends, and odd hours when plant conditions change.


• We ensure contractual and regulatory obligations are properly administered and met.


• We support safe, efficient, and continuous commodity supply to satisfy system demand.


• We maintain proper water quality by following prescribed water management procedures and plant chemistry requirements.


• We operate, maintain, and carry out preventive and predictive maintenance, along with minor repairs, on plant equipment including Cleaver-Brooks package boilers.


• We create, track, and follow up on work orders for equipment repairs while documenting maintenance work and results.


• We implement Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures by identifying energy sources, applying lockout measures, and completing required documentation.


• We complete required training to remain aligned with our safety and operating standards.


• We apply working knowledge of fire-tube boiler operations, combustion processes, feedwater systems, and natural gas combustion hazards.
