Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Stationary Engineer 1 for a full-time 40-hour work week. Schedules are planned six weeks in advance and require flexibility for emergency shifts to support the team.

The position emphasizes HVAC and mechanical maintenance expertise within a large healthcare system, with a comprehensive benefits package and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in maintenance field.
• 2 years of experience as an operating engineer or in a related field; strong HVAC/Mechanical background.
• Obtain Low Pressure Steam Certification within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Changes and disposes of chemical drums properly and uses proper safety equipment.
• Performs chemical analysis tests and adds chemicals to boiler/cac balance in boilers, cooling towers and closed loop systems.
• Assists in repair or maintenance of plant equipment; cleans and paints equipment, piping and accessories in Power Plant and mechanical rooms.
• Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and safety checks on plant equipment.
• Responds to plant emergencies swiftly and operates fire fighting equipment.
• Follows hospital infection control procedures and policies at all times.

Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Stationary Engineer 1 to join the team. This role will be full-time working 40 hours weekly, the schedules are made 6 weeks in advance and are normally very stable, but any team members needs to be committed to working all available shifts in case of emergency/scheduling support.

Stationary Engineer 1 Job Responsibilities:

• Education:High school diploma or equivalent; Technical training in maintenance field.
• Experience: 2 years of experience as an operating engineer or in a related field; Strong background in HVAC, Mechanics; Prior experience with operating boilers, generators and/or conducting mechanical maintenance; military experience.
• Certification: Obtain Low Pressure Steam Certification within 12 months of hire
