Job summary

vTech Solution is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, generators, and water systems across the hospital campus during the graveyard shift. You will ensure safety compliance and reliability while supporting facility operations.

The role reports to the Plant Operations & Maintenance Manager and requires reliability, good judgment, and physical endurance in demanding conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Current LA City Steam Engineers Unlimited License required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an Operating Engineer.
  • Valid California Driver's License required.
  • Strong record keeping and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write English fluently.
  • Physical ability for demanding tasks including lifting and climbing.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain electrical generators, stationary boilers, chillers, and water management systems.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems during shift rounds and develop corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Assist with minor projects under supervision, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and hospital staff.
  • Perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, stooping, lifting heavy weights with assistance, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and prolonged standing.

Job Summary:

The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of major mechanical and electrical equipment including boilers, chillers, electrical generators, and water management systems throughout the hospital campus. This role requires performing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting facility operations during the graveyard shift. The engineer works under the supervision of the Plant Operations & Maintenance Manager and must demonstrate reliability, good judgment, and physical endurance.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain electrical generators, stationary boilers, chillers, and water management systems.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • LA City Fire card within 6 months of employment.
Special Considerations:
  • Work is performed on the graveyard shift from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am.
  • Must be able to remain calm and effective during stressful or emergency situations.
  • Exposure to hazards from tools, power equipment, and materials is possible.
  • Essential communication via talking and hearing with team members and hospital staff.
Scheduling:
  • Graveyard shift schedule: 10:30 pm to 6:30 am.
  • Shift assignments are fixed for the overnight hours to ensure continuous facility operations.
