Job summary

STS Technical Services is seeking a Station Production Controller in Chicago, IL to manage daily and overnight maintenance plans, align crew, tooling, and materials, and act as a central operational hub for safe, on‑time aircraft maintenance. You will work with Maintenance Control, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to optimize resources and performance.

The role requires 5–7 years in airline maintenance, FAA A&P certification, and strong reading of AMMs/IPC diagrams.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years in airline maintenance operations.
  • Wide body aircraft experience strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required; strong reading of AMMs/IPCs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and control station production schedules and resource allocation to meet safety and operational objectives.
  • Create, maintain, and update the Line Status Sheet Report.
  • Direct operational staff regarding workflow priorities, procedures, and task sequencing.
  • Lead and participate in daily operational and production meetings.
  • Maintain and manage daily and overnight maintenance schedules aligned with fleet routing and commercial requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance task cards, work scopes, and maintenance packages to ensure readiness prior to aircraft arrival.
  • Ensure required parts, tooling, manpower, consumables, and access equipment are available ahead of maintenance events.
  • Monitor aircraft arrival and departure times, gate and stand constraints, and ground handling availability.
  • Sequence and prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Maintain accurate station capability data including skills, tooling, manpower hours, and shift coverage.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Control Center, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve resource constraints.
  • Analyze production capacity, demand forecasts, and operational needs to proactively adjust staffing and priorities.
  • Monitor planned versus available man hours and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Maximize downtime opportunities for defect resolution and communicate priority changes.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency, quality, and on time performance.
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness directives, service bulletins, maintenance program tasks, and internal procedures.
  • Support out of service aircraft routing, recovery planning, and deviation management.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations on station production and performance metrics.

STS Technical Services is hiring a Station Production Controller to support aircraft maintenance operations in Chicago, Illinois. This role is critical to the successful planning, coordination, and execution of both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities at the station level.

The Station Production Controller serves as a central operational hub, working closely with Maintenance Control, Planning, Engineering, Supply Chain, Ground Services, and Flight Operations to ensure aircraft availability, regulatory compliance, and efficient use of resources. This position is well suited for an experienced aviation professional who thrives in fast paced, time critical environments.

Position Overview

The Station Production Controller is responsible for managing daily and overnight maintenance production plans, monitoring station capability, and aligning manpower, tooling, and materials with operational demand. This role acts as a key operational advisor, supporting performance analysis, process improvement, and on time reliability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Wide body aircraft experience strongly preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in aviation maintenance, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations, aircraft maintenance programs, and MEL and CDL procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret AMMs, IPCs, wiring diagrams, task cards, and engineering documents
  • Experience working on transport category aircraft
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital maintenance manuals
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced operational environment
Special Requirements
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts across any schedule in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
  • Must possess a valid passport or state issued driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge
