Job summary

Long Island Rail Road is seeking an Assistant Stationmaster to deliver excellent customer service and ensure safe, efficient train movement in and out of stations.

The role involves supervising Ushers, coordinating with movement and dispatch to provide timely information to customers, and supporting a 24/7 operation across various locations such as Penn Station, Grand Central Madison, Jamaica, and Atlantic Terminal.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State’s Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
• Prior customer service experience in a high pressure, high volume environment with courteous interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service to customers and ensure safe, efficient, timely movement of trains.
• Assist in safe operation of trains and coordination with crews and equipment in stations.
• Ensure accurate announcements of train locations, arrivals, delays and changes.
• Supervise Ushers and other staff and instruct on safety procedures.
• Coordinate information flow to customers via multiple channels and maintain up-to-date notices.
