Job summary

State of Michigan seeks to fill a Trooper position within the Michigan State Police. Recruits undergo a residential training program and will be assigned to a post after recruit school completion, with a probationary period of 18 months.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Michigan residents before graduation, 21 by graduation, possess a high school diploma or GED, and pass NTN and MCOLES fitness tests. Background investigations and driving record checks are required.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED Certificate.
• No specific type or amount is required.
• Applicants MUST take and PASS the NTN Entry Level Law Enforcement Exam and a Baseline Fitness Test to qualify for this position.
• Applicants MUST take and PASS the MCOLES Pre-Employment Fitness Test when receiving a conditional offer of employment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the roads of an assigned geographical area to prevent or detect traffic law violations and to provide related services.
• Conduct criminal investigations and support public safety.
• Complete the required training program and probationary period.
