The Statewide Senior Information Security Engineer plays an essential role in protecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of State information systems and network infrastructure.
This position ensures that the appropriate networking security controls are in place as are resilient to withstand and/or recover from issues caused by known and unknown internal or external threats.
This threats include but are not limited to: code injection attacks, malware, hackers, and distributed denial of service (DDOS) attacks.
• Day-to-day operational support of hardware and software that protects Arizona information systems from cyber attacks, and secures against statewide data loss by using a variety of enterprise information security systems and controls
• Troubleshoots network connectivity issues by performing network traces, analyzing data, and implementing solutions to reduce network downtime caused by system failures and cyber attacks
• Creates and modifies security rules in a variety of enterprise information security systems and control. Responds promptly to any customer's requests while maintaining organization's SLA goal of customer service excellence to exceed customer expectations
• Ensures that State's Data Center network and State's WAN is in compliance with Statewide Information Security policies, NIST, ISO, and other required standards
• Works with peers, management, and external contacts to investigate, analyze, and respond to security incidents as well as leads in conducting in-depth computer forensics
• Participates in projects by evaluating infrastructure and applications as they relate to information security architecture, directives, and policies. Participates with defining enterprise-wide security standards
• Reviews and recommends network security equipment, resources, and software; may assist with development preparation of section level budget. Participates and responds to AZDOHS internal and external security audits and assessments. Identifies opportunities and implements solutions to improve statewide network security efficiency and reduce waste
• Performs network security system analysis, design, and implementation and maintenance
• Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Knowledge:
• Considerable working knowledge of information security technologies, industry trends, and best practices in the areas of risk assessment, compliance, and vulnerability management
• Considerable knowledge of specific information protections standards (NIST, HIPAA, PCI, FIPS, etc as appropriate)
Skills:
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Strong customer service skills

•Balance, prioritize, and organize multipletasks. Work collaboratively (teams and across organizations). Synthesize feedback and adjust accordingly. Build strong relationships inside and outside organization. Evaluate and test emerging technologies. Apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met
Required:
• Bachelor's degree, plus 8 years of extensive experience in information security systems engineering (or equivalent experience)
Preferred:
• Certified Information Security Systems Professional
•Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, required to maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11)
•Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment
