Job summary

New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) seeks a dynamic attorney to serve as Statewide Pro Bono Coordinator for the Volunteer Attorney Program (VAP). Based in Albuquerque, you will collaborate with the VAP Manager, State Bar of New Mexico, ATJ, courts, and pro bono partners to establish clinics where low-income residents receive free legal advice and services.

Qualifications

• JD licensed in New Mexico or eligible for reciprocity.
• Willingness to travel up to 15–20% of the time, including evenings.
• Proficiency with MS Word/Excel; PowerPoint a plus.
• Strong collaboration with multiple partners; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Organize, travel to, and recruit volunteers for clinics statewide.
• Coordinate with judicial district pro bono committees to plan clinics.
• Assist in recruiting pro bono attorneys for low-income clients.
• Create and deliver training and CLE courses for volunteers.
• Support daily operations of the Volunteer Attorney Program.
• Network with private attorneys and civil legal service providers.
• Market clinics and monitor quality of services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
