Job summary

The Georgia Department of Agriculture seeks a Licensing, Certification & Training Program Manager to oversee the statewide pest control program’s licensing, certification, and training for professionals, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.

You will manage examinations, develop materials, coordinate renewals, and engage with regulated businesses and the public to promote safety and regulatory adherence in Georgia’s agricultural sector.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Entomology, Biology, or another related field.
  • Experience in pest management, agriculture, or environmental protection, or a professional position working in the pesticide or chemical industry.
  • Government experience in regulatory enforcement of pesticide laws affecting the environment.
  • Responsible experience in regulatory compliance program management, quality control principles, and supervising professional staff.
  • Working knowledge of scientific and technical principles applicable to pesticide usage as well as knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the handling of pesticides.
  • Experience with regulations about certification of pesticide applicators and pest management business license regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Administrates the state certification examinations for certified pest control operators and technicians.
  • Manages the writing and review of state structural pest control manuals and examinations, licensing of commercial pest control companies, approving recertification instructors and courses, approving requests for temporary Designated Certified Operators under the 90-day emergency rule, coordinating and managing the biennial structural license renewals and supporting certification renewals.
  • Review and evaluation of unlicensed operator investigative findings to recommend appropriate actions.
  • Supervises program staff and conducts other department activities as assigned by division management.
