Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Statewide Construction Specialist - Central Office to lead major repairs and new construction for correctional facilities statewide. This senior role requires extensive commercial construction expertise and team leadership in a centralized office setting.

Qualifications

• Six (6) or more years of professional experience in the commercial construction field.
• Three (3) or more years of experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Florida commercial contractor's license in one or more trades of general building (preferred).
• Formal training and/or education on construction management or trades, architecture, or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Team Lead for maintenance systems for a major institution.
• Train General Maintenance staff within the region.
• Administer construction projects by Agency personnel, inmate labor, and contracts.
• Assist with developing plans and budget requests for the Florida Department of Corrections.
• Evaluate, select, and manage work by A/E consultants and CM firms, including contract negotiations and project compliance.
