JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

At States Made, we build custom merch stores that help candidates, causes, and communities bring their ideas to life. From graphic design to product fulfillment, we handle the full stack—so our clients can focus on what they do best. We’re a small, fast-moving team that values creativity, autonomy, and thoughtful problem-solving.

The Role

We’re looking for a timeline-driven, spreadsheet-loving, “keep the trains running” kind of person. This role lives at the center of e-commerce, merchandise production and project management.

You’ll manage the full life-cycle of merch stores: making sure every product gets launched, every order gets where it’s going, and every task is tracked and done. You are someone who finds joy in a clean spreadsheet, has been described as “insanely organized”, and can work cross-functionally to keep projects on a timeline.

What You’ll Do

(40%) Ecommerce Operations

  • Build and maintain merch stores in Shopify, including product launches and updates

  • Ensure quality control across merch stores and product pages

  • Manage inventory across client stores and States Made's print-on-demand stock

  • Monitor order fulfillment and proactively resolve any shipping delays

  • Identify opportunities to enhance our clients' stores by applying e-commerce best practices, and collaborate with our tech support team to implement improvements

  • Support cybersecurity efforts and vendor relationships (e.g. Cloudflare)

  • Support analytics (e.g. ads performance, web traffic) + generate monthly reports for clients

(40%) Internal Operations and Project Management

  • Own and manage our team task system (Asana), ensuring deadlines and deliverables stay on track

  • Build and maintain smart, streamlined tools and dashboards using Google Sheets

  • Identify and implement process improvements and automations

  • Manage updates for the States Made website and keep SEO in check

(20%) Production Management

  • Coordinate bulk order production, tracking timelines and flagging issues early

  • Update internal systems with real-time order progress

  • Manage relationships with fulfillment partners, ensuring accurate product receiving and inventory updates

  • Provide clients with updates on order status and tracking numbers. If there’s any issues with delivery, you’re the one to solve it

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Have 2+ years of experience in ecommerce, operations, or production management

  • Absolutely love Excel or Google Sheets (seriously—this is a must)

  • Thrive on structure, systems, and follow-through

  • Keep an internal clock for timelines and know when to raise a red flag

  • Get satisfaction from a well-managed calendar and a crossed-off checklist

  • Have experience with Shopify (big plus!)

  • Don’t need to be told what to do—you see the problem and fix it

  • Are highly organized and get satisfaction from simplifying recurring projects

  • Are resourceful, curious, and able to get started and problem-solve without heavy supervision

  • Thrive in a remote startup environment with lots of opportunity for trying new things and learning from others

  • Should be excited by progressive politics, custom Slack emojis, and conditional formatting

Schedule & Compensation

  • Salary: $65,000/year

  • Remote (US based only)

  • Available to work standard U.S. hours (9am–6pm across ET/CT/MT/PT)

  • Unlimited PTO with a 10 day office closure in December and paid holidays

  • Healthcare premiums covered at 75% for employees and 25% for dependents
