Job summary

Variant Partners is seeking a State Regulatory Attorney to join its legal practice focused on utility regulation before Public Utilities Commissions in Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia. The role collaborates with business leaders, experienced utility attorneys, and outside counsel on a broad range of regulatory matters.

You will draft pleadings, review matters, monitor regulatory developments, and guide internal clients on compliance and policy.

Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• 1–5 years of relevant in-house or law firm experience in utility regulation.
• Admission to the Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia Bar in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Handle legal and regulatory matters before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and appellate courts.
• Assist with and manage complex regulatory proceedings, including rate cases and investigations.
• Draft and review legal pleadings, motions, briefs, testimony, contracts, and other business documents.
