Job summary

FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL is recruiting for the Trooper position statewide. Troopers enforce criminal and traffic laws, regulate traffic, assist motorists, inspect vehicles, and arrest offenders. Training academy is in Tallahassee with pay, lodging, and meals during the 29-week basic course.

Recruits may be eligible for abbreviated training if exempt. Upon completion, troopers may pursue specialty positions and promotions within the agency.

Qualifications

• One year sworn or non-sworn law enforcement experience.
• Two years of active and continuous U.S. military service.
• Two years of employment with public contact experience.
• Thirty semester-hours or 45 quarter-hours at an accredited college or university

Responsibilities

• Enforce the State’s criminal and traffic laws and regulate the flow of traffic.
• Assist motorists, perform vehicle inspections, detect and apprehend impaired drivers.
• Investigate traffic crashes and assist other agencies upon request.
• Recruits may be assigned anywhere in the State of Florida
