Job summary

Gem City Nursing & Rehab is seeking a State Tested Nurse Assistant to provide routine nursing care under the direction of nursing leadership. The role includes assisting with daily resident activities, hygiene, and mobility, while ensuring safety and dignity in care delivery.

Qualified candidates hold a current STNA certification and demonstrated English proficiency. The position emphasizes compassionate interaction, adherence to infection control, and reliable documentation of care provided.

Qualifications

• Must possess STNA certification.
• Able to read, write, and speak English.
• Patient, tactful, cheerful demeanor; able to engage with residents appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Prepare residents for therapy, activities, physician visits, religious services, and transport to/from such activities.
• Answer call lights promptly.
• Attend in-service trainings, on-the-job trainings, and meetings as directed.
• Assist residents with proper hygiene and bathing per facility procedures.
• Follow infection control procedures when isolation is required.
• Document required information each shift related to the STNA role.
• Present a professional image through dress, behavior and speech.
• Protect resident rights and adhere to company standards for addressing concerns.

STNA - State Tested Nurse Assitant

As an STNA, you are responsible for providing routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses or Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have certification as a STNA
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
• Tracheostomy care, ventilator care experienced preferred.

GENERAL DUTIES

• STNA (STATE TESTED NURSE ASSISTANT) will p repare residents for therapy, activities, physician visits, religious services, etc., to include transporting residents to/from such activities.
• Answer residents’ call lights promptly.
• Attend in-service educational programs, on the job training programs and meetings as directed.
• Assist residents with proper hygiene
• Bathe residents as assigned and in accordance with established facility procedures (encourage showers and other self-help measures/activities).
• Follow infection control procedures in accordance with established facility policy when isolation techniques are necessary.
• Chart required information every shift pertaining to the role of the STNA.
• Presents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior and speech.
• Adheres to Company Standards for resolving consumer concerns.
• Ensures that all consumer/resident rights are protected.
