Job summary

The Department of General Services (DGS) in Richmond, VA is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to serve as State Review Electrical Engineer. You will review building plans for code compliance, write technical reports, and present findings to management and clients.

This role requires extensive experience with VUSBC, CPSM, ADA, NFPA, and electrical codes. The ideal candidate will be a Virginia-licensed PE (or eligible within one year), hold ICC certifications as Electrical Plans Examiner and

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer licensed in Virginia (or ability to be licensed in Virginia within one year).
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license (or able to obtain VA license within 60 days).
  • International Code Council certification as Electrical Plans Examiner and as Commercial Electrical Inspector (or the ability to attain within one year).
  • Substantial experience in building code analyses, ADA/NFPA/NECA/UL standards, and design development for medium/large facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and directing corrections for plans to conform to VUSBC and CPSM.
  • Create technical reports and recommendations and present them to management and clients.
  • Consult with DEB reviewers to ensure consistent guidance to designers.
  • Participate in building inspections.
  • Provide technical assistance to Agencies, A/E designers, and representatives from A/E firms.
