Job summary

Pearson seeks an Advanced Specialist, Government Relations to monitor state legislative activity, analyze policy developments, and produce concise materials for internal decision-making and external engagement.

This remote, US-based role partners with internal stakeholders, tracks deadlines, drafts policy briefs and talking points, and supports engagement with policymakers across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Education Policy, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in government relations, public policy, legislative affairs, or policy analysis.
• Hands-on experience with legislative tracking, bill analysis, and policy research.
• Strong writing and editing skills for policy materials.
• Familiarity with state legislative processes and regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track state legislative and regulatory activity across assigned policy areas, escalating relevant developments to senior Government Relations colleagues.
• Develop and maintain policy scorecards and track progress against objectives.
• Summarise key provisions of introduced legislation and regulatory proposals and assess business implications.
• Produce updates including trackers, policy digests, alerts, and concise summaries for internal planning.
• Prepare clear written materials for internal use by the USGR team and external stakeholders.
