Job summary

Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking a State Park Technician to maintain Union Grove State Park, including its 110-acre lake, trails, and facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on outdoor work and interaction with park visitors to ensure safe, enjoyable experiences.

Under the Park Manager, you will help steward trails, habitats, and park infrastructure, supervise seasonal aides, and contribute to conservation efforts while engaging with local communities and partners.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience in facilities maintenance or related field.
• Commercial Driver's License or endorsements may be required for certain positions.
• Certification related to pesticide application or water systems may be required for certain positions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain offices, restrooms, campgrounds, shelters, and trails.
• Safely operate tractors, mowers, power tools, and boats.
• Conduct habitat improvements, prescribed burns, invasive species control, and habitat restoration.
• Represent the DNR at public events and assist visitors for a safe experience.
• Assist with fee collection, data management, and supervision of seasonal aides and volunteers.
