Job summary

Bacardi is seeking a State Manager to lead market strategy, broker/distributor relationships, and a high-performing sales team in your designated state/region. You will act as the primary contact for distributor leadership and drive Bacardi initiatives with accountability for regional results.

You will develop plans, present to executives, and own the region’s P&L while maintaining strong financial acumen and cross-functional collaboration with key accounts and franchise distributors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field is required.
  • 5+ years field sales experience, preferably in Spirits/Beverage.
  • Supervisory/management experience with track record of developing winning teams.
  • Ability to build long-lasting relationships with key accounts and distributors.
  • Strong KPI performance track record and financial decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to executives.

Job description

As a State Manager you are responsible for articulating Bacardi’s vision and roadmap in your designated state/region through development and execution of market strategy to achieve maximum performance with broker/distributor management and relationship building with strategic accounts. You will lead, guide, and develop a successful sales team to drive results through actionable strategies, plans and programs.You will serve as the primary contact for local distributor leadership and partners, and lead business management.

RESPONSIBILITIES - WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART YOUR KEY FOCUS WILL BE
  • Develop, implement, and achieve fiscal year sales goals for specific market focused on tactics and set Action Plans
  • Develop, implement, and execute sales programs and pricing strategy as well as review monthly account performance, including Revenue and Value Creatio.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual planning and review meetings with Franchise distributors to actively identify areas of market opportunity and address accordingly
  • Ongoing distributor management responsibilities including monitoring of KPI’s, price points (including competitive set), orders, shipments, samples, training, and POS management
  • Supervise and Develop Direct Reports & provide guidance and direction to indirect reports (Influencers & Ambassadors) to ensure collaboration to achieve market goals & objectives
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with the top off & on-premise accounts, both regional chains and independents
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with Franchise Distributors (CDI / Brescome & 3 others) and Management personnel
  • Deliver fact-based selling presentations & Monthly GSMs as a way to communicate BUSA objectives / brand strategies and keep brands at the forefront at Multiple Franchise Distributors (CDI/Brescome and 3 others)
  • Conduct quarterly market analysis surveys/KPI audits in all major markets, as well as provide weekly/monthly reports and status/accomplishments recap to the Regional Director
  • Take accountability and full ownership of your region’s P&L and produce effective forecasting to increase profitability and demonstrate a strong understanding of value chain economics
  • Demonstrate strong financial acumen with an understanding and ownership of the marketplace pricing, structure, and strategy
  • Analyze and understand the competition. Stay informed on key competitor offerings that may affect volumes as well as staffing changes at distributors and competitors
SKILLS - THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or related area.
  • Ideally you will have 5+ years field sales experience, preferably in the Spirits and/or Beverage industry .
  • Ideally you will have supervisory/management experience and positive track record of developing winning teams.
  • Ability to create, maintain and build long lasting relationships with key accounts, distributors, vendors & cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of performance and delivery against KPI’s and annual goals & targets
  • With a Founder’s mentality, you demonstrate exceptional financial acumen and decision making to achieve results.
  • You are influential and excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills. You will have opportunities to display excellent written and verbal communication skills while also being relaxed, giving presentations in front of small groups of people including executives, distributor partners, Bacardi Primos, vendors and customers (both internal and external) at all levels of an organization .
  • You are computer proficient working in MS Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and can use advanced computer functions, including navigating the Internet
  • You will be based in Alabama/Mississippi.

What are the stages of an interview process?

The first step is submitting your application which will be reviewed by our Hiring Team. Should your experience meet the qualifications and expectations of the open role, you will begin the interview process. Generally speaking, you can expect a few stages of conversations. The timing of the interview process will vary and our focus will be on ensuring that the key stakeholders get to know you and that you get to know us. You will be expected to do a face‑to‑face interview in person or over video call in some cases, at least once, during the hiring process.
Sometimes we do ask candidates for customer facing roles or more junior candidates to complete an automated online video interview. You will self-record answers to our automated questions and this will be reviewed by the Hiring Team.

For Management and Leadership roles we may request an additional assessment that takes a deeper dive into your potential leadership style.
