Job summary

The Housekeeper position with the State of Arkansas is an entry-level role responsible for routine cleaning and sanitation within state facilities. This position ensures that work areas, public spaces, restrooms, and other common areas are kept clean, sanitized, and orderly, contributing to a safe environment for employees and visitors.

You may be expected to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, and could lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and the safe use of cleaning products and equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Good communication skills for reporting issues to supervisors.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, and common areas following cleaning schedules.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust floors and surfaces as needed.
• Restock cleaning supplies in restrooms and facilities.
• Maintain and operate cleaning equipment safely.
• Report maintenance issues to the supervisor.
• Follow safety protocols for handling chemicals and supplies.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects as directed by supervisors.
• Work flexible hours including weekends or holidays.
• May lift up to 50 lbs.
