Job summary

Barrow County is seeking an Assistant Solicitor-General to represent the State in all stages of court proceedings. This role involves supervising information gathering, identifying witnesses, charging decisions, and preparing cases for arraignment and trial.

The attorney will prosecute misdemeanors and traffic violations, appear at arraignments, motions, bench and jury trials, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Georgia law.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of law.
• Membership (current or to be acquired) in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia.
• Prosecutorial experience is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Prosecutes violations in Barrow County State Court.
• Reviews warrants, incident reports, statements, and other evidence to determine charges.
• Presents cases in arraignments, traffic court, bond hearings, motions, and trials.
• Drafts appellate briefs and motions and argues before appellate courts as needed.
• Communicates with defense counsel, judges, law enforcement, and staff to coordinate case work.
• Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws and procedures relating to prosecution of criminal offenses.
