Job summary

PIRG, the Public Interest Research Group, seeks state directors and advocates to lead campaigns in diverse states, including Madison, WI. Key duties include shaping policy priorities, building coalitions, organizing events, and driving media attention to protect consumers and health.

Applicants should have 4+ years in advocacy or organizing, strong writing and speaking skills, and a track record of working with diverse stakeholders. Travel and flexible hours may be required.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years in advocacy or organizing; advanced degrees may count toward experience.
• Strong writing and public speaking skills; plus media outreach ability.

Responsibilities

• Shape program priorities by participating in policy development and messaging.
• Build coalitions with a broad range of organizations and audiences.
• Organize events, recruit volunteers, and grow supporter networks.
• Earn traditional and social media attention through events and op-eds.
• Advocate via lobbying, hearings, and production of compelling materials.
• Fundraise by writing proposals and engaging foundations and donors.
• Grow the team by recruiting and training staff and interns.
