Job summary

Nidec Motor Corporation in the United States is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to deliver Power Quality STATCOM solutions for the North American market. The role blends technical proposal work with direct customer engagement, supporting Sales during bids and continuing through installation, commissioning, and startup.

The candidate will interface with local suppliers, define requirements, and write detailed installation specifications for projects, including site surveys and equipment

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Quality, STATCOM, FACTS, or related MV/HV project work.
• Experience with electrical design, SLDs, layouts, and interface coordination with customers and EPCs.
• Familiarity with utility/substation requirements, grounding and cabling concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define optimal STATCOM solutions from customer specs and grid requirements.
• Adapt Nidec products to meet customer and project needs with a client-focused approach.
• Prepare and review: single-line diagrams, AutoCAD layouts, and technical offer specifications.
• Review installation concepts including equipment layout, cable routing, grounding, and interfaces with customer equipment.
• Coordinate with the Italian team in Milan and with suppliers/purchasing during execution.
