Job summary

Broetje Automation-USA is seeking a Startup Engineer for our Savannah, GA location. This full-time role supports electrical and controls engineering for new equipment and system introductions. Two positions are available, with travel to customer sites primarily in the Southeast.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics or related field, 3+ years in industrial automation, strong mechanical aptitude, and hands-on experience with robotics and machine tools.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics or related engineering field preferred.
• 3+ years experience in industrial automation or machine tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical and controls engineering support for new equipment and systems.
• Serve as internal SME for Siemens PLC/HMI, motion control, sensors, and electromechanical devices.
• Apply knowledge of electronics, circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming to solve problems.
• Travel to customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting of machines.
• Maintain logs and written records of duties performed.

Compensation/Benefits:

• Competitive hourly wage, ranges $34.00 – 43.00/hour, plus overtime & shift differential

Required Education:

• BS in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred, BS in Computer Science, or comparable experience with industrial robotics or machine tools
• Technical Certificate OR BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, and 3+ years of experience within the industrial automation industry or equivalent experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude from prior professional experience
• Hands-on Industrial automation industry or equivalent experience

Desirable Experience:

• Siemens Step 7 PLC troubleshooting experience
• Siemens TIA Portal; Sinumerik One
• CNC troubleshooting experience
• Experience in IEC61131 (PLC programming languages)
• Ability to analyze and diagnose automation problems

Qualifications:

• Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, robotics, programming, and system integration
• Understanding of PLC programming languages
• Experienced in troubleshooting electrical control panels
• CNC troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of NC Controllers: Siemens 840D or WINCC
• Experience using precision measurement equipment (i.e. Dial indicators, calipers, etc
• Strong communication skills & ability to interact with teams, clients, and vendors
• Experience with aerial platforms and working at heights
• Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 40 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and repetitively climb stairs within a manufacturing environment
• Must have shift flexibility
• Open to working weekend shifts – (3) 12-hour shifts
• Must be able to travel to customer sites, primarily Charleston, SC and Kinston, NC (50%+ travel expected)

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide electrical and controls engineering expertise in support of new equipment & system introductions
• Internal subject matter expert in control systems (Siemens PLC, HMI, Motion Control Systems), system integration, sensors, & electromechanical devices
• Apply knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming
• Travel to customer sites for machine commissioning and troubleshooting support
