Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Production Manager to lead a greenfield CNC machining, cleaning, and assembly operation producing 50,000 units per year.

You will own daily output, quality, cost, safety, and reliability, reporting to the CEO/COO in a fast-paced startup environment. The role requires 12–15 years of manufacturing leadership, hands-on CNC expertise, and a track record of launching new facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or ManufacturingEngineering or related field.
• 12–15 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
• Experience launching a new manufacturing facility or line from startup to full-rate production.
• Hands-on CNC machining environment experience (turning, milling, multi-axis).
• Experience leading high-volume assembly operations and maintenance organizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of facility, equipment installation, and process qualification.
• Develop manufacturing ramp plan with milestones and risks.
• Establish SOPs, work instructions, quality systems before first production.
• Manage 2-shift production and 3-shift maintenance for max uptime.
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma improvement projects and Kaizen events.
• Ensure readiness for ISO 9001/IATF 16949 certifications.
