Job summary

Northfield Park Racino is seeking a Starting Gate Driver to manage the mobile starting gate, ensuring the car is fueled, cleaned and maintained for each racing meet. You will work live race nights and weekends from 4pm to midnight, performing duties in line with department and property policies.

Key duties include preparing the gate, assisting the Starter to ensure a fair start, reporting issues, training backup drivers, and promoting positive relations with employees and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ years of prior relevant experience is required.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• Must possess safe driving skills and precise control of the starting gate.

Responsibilities

• Keep starting gate prepared for racing and assist Starter (State appointed employee) in attaining a fair start for all horses.
• Ensure Car is fueled, cleaned and maintained at all times during racing meet.
• Reports issues and concerns to the Race Secretary or Plant Superintendent.
• Responsible for training backup driver(s).
• Promotes positive employee and public relations.
