Job summary

West Bay Golf Club seeks a part-time Starter to deliver exceptional service in a hospitality-focused golf environment. You will support daily first tee operations and manage on-course player flow at a private club.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months related experience, basic math skills, and reliable attendance. You will cue groups, monitor pace of play, and communicate with the Golf Shop to ensure a smooth round.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Possesses basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Start players on the first tee and explain the rules of play for the day.
  • Maintain an accurate starting sheet so the whereabouts of players are known.
  • Cue groups to move to the first tee and ensure not more than one group is on the tee at one time.
  • Tour the golf course and assist players as needed to maintain the posted pace of play.
  • Check restrooms and water stations on a regular schedule.
  • Maintain proper spacing on the golf course to avoid delays.
  • Complete the golfer tracking report on a daily basis.
  • Remind players of the cart rules of the day.
  • Repair ball marks, collect trash on the course, and replace hazard stakes or directional signage.
  • Communicate with the Golf Shop and Starter on a regular basis.
  • Monitor the course and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist golfers when needed.
  • Report all problem situations to the Head Professional in a timely manner.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Experience Required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Possesses basic math skills.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
